STEINMARK EDGAR GEORGE Edgar George Steinmark passed away on September 6, at Family Hospice & Palliative Care, shortly after a final visit from his family. He was 88 years old. Ed had most recently lived at Providence Point, a retirement community in Pittsburgh's South Hills. Ed was born Mar. 13, 1925, in Bellevue, PA, to Ethel May Gruey Steinmark and Arthur Nicholas Steinmark. Ed spent his childhood in Bellevue and graduated from Bellevue High School, where he met the love of his life, Sarah Wrenshall, beginning a courtship and marriage that would span 73 years. Ed served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer during World War II. Ed took his B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh and joined the Pennsylvania Industrial Chemical Corporation (PICCO). He rose through his career to become District Manager for Hercules Inc. before retiring in 1985. During those years, the family moved from Bellevue to live in Wallingford, PA, Upper St. Clair, PA, Wilmington, DE, and Bath, OH. Ed was a devoted husband, father, family man, church and community member, reader of history, and sports fan, who loved wintering in Hawaii. Ed was predeceased by his son, Robert Gruey Steinmark. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and their two children, Louise Machinist and Arthur Steinmark (Karen Doughty), and grandchildren, Sarah Machinist and Charles Machinist. Additional survivors include his sister, Alice Rightor; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Wrenshall and Doris Wrenshall, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ed's life, beginning with a 12:30 p.m., Sept. 21, service at Bower Hill Community Church, 70 Moffett St., Mt. Lebanon, followed by a 2:00 reception at Providence Point, 500 Providence Point Blvd., Pgh., PA 15243. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Providence Point Employee Appreciation Fund.
