BERNABO CHARLES R. 90, on September 17, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with the scourge of leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta (Bennett), who was his caregiver during this period of time; a son, Roger (Laurel); and a daughter, Gail (Edward) Schneider; cherished grandfather of Kaleen, Philip and Keith; also great-granddaughters, Ashlynd Jade and McKenzie Claire. Also preceded in death by an infant son, Charles. Charles was one of ten children and was raised on a dairy farm in Bolivar, PA; served in the U.S. Navy in WWII along with his four brothers. He moved to Pittsburgh after the war and worked in the State Liquor stores in Southside, Hazelwood, and Squirrel Hill during his 25-year career. He loved nature and always had a garden. He did numerous charity work for St. Rosalia's and Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he was a faithful member of the Holy Name Society. He and Loretta moved to Texas 12 years ago to be closer to their children. Friends received on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3511 Main St., Munhall, 412-461-6394. Mass of Christian Burial will be in Holy Angels R.C.
