
HALLUSKA EDWARD M. Of Monroeville, age 94, on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Beloved husband of Helen D. (Thompson) Halluska. Ed and Helen just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day. Loving father of Richard (Lin) Halluska of Stony Brook, NY and Suzanne (Mike) Dominick of Delmont; proud grandfather of Dr. Maria (Kevin) Handy of Philadelphia, Diana (Eric) Halluska-Sanderson of Brooklyn, Matthew Dominick of East Elmhurst, NY, and David (Tracy) Dominick of Mechanicsburg; great-grandfather of Beatrix and Ian Handy and Luke Dominick; brother of Thomas Halluska of FL; preceded in death by his brothers, William and John Halluska; and his sisters, Esther Kole and Florence Wolfe. While at Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh plant, Ed was a tool and die maker, an essential skill during World War II, when he was drafted into the Army. Stationed in Los Alamos, NM, he worked on the Manhattan Project in the development of the atomic bomb. After the war ended, Ed received a letter of thanks from Dr. Robert Oppenheimer, Director of the Manhattan Project. Ed returned to Westinghouse where he retired as an Engineering Supervisor in 1977 after 38 years of service. Ed learned to play Bridge from a book that Helen gave him and he became a Life Master. In his retirement, Ed and Helen taught Bridge on cruise ships and traveled extensively, their travels included 24 around-the-world cruises. Friends welcome Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T.
