AMBROSE ADELAIDE (BARNES) Died at her home on Saturday, December 14, 2013, age 97. Devoted wife of the late James C. Ambrose; loving mother to her daughters, Clare L. Ambrose and Lee Ambrose Hart and her husband, Jim; treasured grandmother of James Hart; she is survived by her sister, Georganne Johnson of Maryland; nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Squirrel Hill, where she was head the Alter Guild for many years. Her interests were wide, she was a member of the Perennial Garden Club and the Women's Committee of the Carnegie Museum of Art. She studied Ikebana, art history and loved to travel. In her later years, she was lovingly cared for by Christine McCrea and Mary Ann St. John. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be sent to The Church of the Redeemer, 5700 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15217, the Animal Rescue League or the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
