BEREZNAY MATTHEW N. 61, of New Eagle, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, in McMurray Hills Manor. He was born December 16, 1952 in Monongahela, the son of the late Charles Bereznay and Ruth Walters Bereznay, who survives and resides in Belle Vernon. Matthew was employed for over 25 years as a mortgage loan officer for several different companies, retiring from West Penn Financial in Pittsburgh. A licensed pilot at the age of 19, he had a passion for flying. He also was an avid golfer, loved sports, taking walks in Mingo Park and performing his job. He is survived by his wife, Jean Read Bereznay, with whom he celebrated 19 years of marriage on October 1, 2013; son, Michael (Amy) Bereznay of Sewickley; two grandsons, Carson and Logan Bereznay; brother, John (Vanessa) Bereznay of Belle Vernon; sister, Gail Bell of Monongahela. Friends will be received on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where Services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. William Lusk, officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
