
PATTERSON MARILYN COBB LYNNIE Age 67, of Shadyside, passed away on January 9, 2014. Born in 1946 to Arlene and George L. Cobb, in Middletown, CT, she married William Morrow Patterson, Jr., in 1974 and became mother to Elizabeth Lizzie Barnett Patterson in 1975. A graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and Simmons College, Marilyn enjoyed a successful real estate career for more than 30 years. She was an eight-year survivor of Glioblastoma Multiforme IV but died from complications of pneumonia. Throughout her illness, Marilyn exhibited unwavering courage and was an inspiration to all. Marilyn was loved by many for her gregarious nature and creative sense of humor. She was thoughtful toward others and often practiced selfless acts of kindness. An avid scrabble player and talented athlete, she nurtured strong relationships with her family and countless friends. Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; her loving daughter, Lizzie (Gary); grandsons, Brawley and Morrow Niels; stepdaughters, Josephine Patterson (Ben) and Juli Patterson; stepson, William Morrow Patterson (Rena); adoring sister, Cynthia C. Ingram; brothers, Ralph Cobb (June) and George L. Cobb, Jr. (Debbie); and brother-in-law, David H. Patterson (Pam). She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, Sarah Hemphill, Hank Ingram, Alice Kearney, Suzanne Burnette, Seth Cobb, Christie Cobb, Allison Hussey, Brooks Cobb, Christopher Patterson, Jeff Patterson, and Amy Fox. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in- law, Elizabeth Barnett Patterson. Friends will be received at JOHN A. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the main sanctuary of Shadyside Presbyterian Church at 11 am. Interment will be private.
