
NORBUT ALAN M., M.D. Age 63, of Moon Township, PA, formerly of Baldwin, PA, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer. Alan was born September 15, 1950, the beloved son of the late Albert M. and Helen Louise Norbut. He graduated from Baldwin High School, class of 1968, and the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1972. Alan earned his M.D. from Temple University Medical School (Philadelphia, PA), class of 1976, and completed his internship and residency, specializing in Pathology, at the University of Pittsburgh, 1976-1980. He was a member of the Medical Staff and Department of Pathology, St. Francis Medical Center from 1980-1997 and joined the Medical Staff and Department of Pathology at Heritage Valley Health System, Sewickley Valley Hospital in 1998. His professional credentials included: Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology with Certification in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology, Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP) and Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (FASCP). An avid golfer and master of the game, Alan fulfilled his personal dream of playing at the home of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland in 2008. He was also a self-taught personal computer wizard and enjoyed the beach, watching professional sports, and excursions in his BMW. Loving brother of Karen McElhany (Fred), Cynthia Jennings (Fred), Pamela Fleming (Richard), Helene Norbut; and preceded in death by younger sister, Melanie Harold; he is also survived by nieces, Amy McElhany, Lindsay Jennings, Lauren Jennings, and Amanda (Fleming) Mackey; nephew, Tyler Fleming; and brother-in-law, Mark Harold.
