RUST HELEN V. (ABT) Age 95, of Crafton Heights, peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 17, 2014. Wife of the late John H. Rust and John C. Abt; beloved mother of Ellen (the late Earl) Gareis, Patricia (Roscoe) Padgelek, Claire (Glenn) McNally, William (Linda) Rust, and the late John (surviving wife Elaine) Rust, the late Robert (surviving wife Christine) Rust, extended family John (Shirley) Abt, and the late Charles Abt; loving grandmother of Cheryl (Timothy) Derby, Gregory Gareis, Diana (John) Dulaney, Matthew Rust, Jeffrey Padgelek, Carrie (Scott) Baird, Kevin (Laura) Padgelek, Adam (Brittany) McNally, Chrysti (Frank) Scozio, Pamela (Michael) Shaw, Michael, Nicholas, Robert, Arthur, Patrick, William and Christina Rust and the late Nancy and Margie Gareis, and Richard (surviving wife Deni) Rust; 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sister of the late Henry (surviving wife Anne) Stack and Margaret (Joseph) Mueller. Family and friends received 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the SCHEPNER - McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Ave., Crafton. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday in St. Philip Catholic Church where Helen was a longtime member and past president of the Christian Mothers, also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Past State Grand Regents Club and the Marion Manor Guild. She was an honored and proud recipient of the Cardinal Wright Award and Manifesting the Kingdom Award. For 95 years Helen dedicated her life to her church and family. Helen was a former City of Pittsburgh school crossing guard and loved spending her summers at her Ashtabula cottage on the lake with her family. She also enjoyed playing the slots at the Meadows. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her, and will always be remembered.
