MUNIZZA JOHN L. Known by his friends as Giddy for his sunny disposition, of Sewickley and Moon Township, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Wexford House at age 86. He was born in Sewickley on November 22, 1927, to the late Joseph and Mary (Pellegrino) Munizza. In December of 2003, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Angeline (Pennetti) Munizza. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by siblings, Frank Vescio, Thomasina Muzzy Vescio, Margaret Vescio Roppa, Jerry Vescio and James Munizza. He is survived by his beloved sister, Frances Munizza of Sewickley and many devoted nieces and nephews along with numerous friends. John was owner of Munizza Beer Distributor located on Walnut St. in Sewickley. He also was owner of the Glass Tower Motor Inn with his brother Jim in Moon Township for 35 years. John loved sports and was a member of St. James Church. There will be no visitation. Everyone is welcome to Mass at St. James Church on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. Rev. Thomas J. Burke, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143 or National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, N.I.A.S.H.F.
