
DeMAILO SAMUEL A. 92, of New Sewickley Twp., died Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was born November 21, 1921, in Ambridge, PA to the late Angelo and Filomena Seraphine DeMailo. He was a member of Good Samaritan Catholic Church, Ambridge and the former Christ the King Catholic Church. He was retired laborer for H.H. Robertson and served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. Sam was an avid sports enthusiast and his passions in life included the Steelers and Pirates and all Ambridge sports teams. When you didn't find him on the ballfield, you would find in the ballroom dancing to the big band sounds. He was an American Legion and Pony League manager and coach in Ambridge for over 35 years and was inducted into the Pennsylvania American Legion Hall of Fame in 1992, Sam was also a member of the Ambridge VFW and American Legion Post and the Ambridge Eagles. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, were his wife, Anita Mazzetti DeMailo; a daughter, Gina Focer; four brothers, Alex, Dom, Rocco and Philip DeMailo; and a sister, Florence Lintio. Surviving are his daughter, Judy (Norvel) Bollingmo, with whom he resided; son-in-law, Brad Focer of Harmony Twp.; two grandchildren, Jessica (Greg) Holloway of Southview and Sammy Focer of Harmony Township; two brothers, Louis DeMailo of Rochester and Orland (Sharon) DeMailo of Bethel Park; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great- great-nephews; and sisters-in-law, Alfreda DeMailo of Villa St. Joseph, Baden, Veronica Pavelek of Beaver Falls, and Loretta Swigart of Beaufort, SC. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where prayers will be offered Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit will follow at 10:15 a.m. in the Chapel off SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, with burial following in Economy Cemetery.
