MAHONEY ROBERT EDDY “MOE” Of Gibsonia, formerly a longtime Franklin Park resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2014. “Moe” was born April 21, 1929, in Niles, OH and then moved to Pittsburgh with U.S. Steel and the love of his life, Nancy Banks, to whom he was married for 63 years. A loyal and loving father of five children, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He played basketball with Charlie Cooper on the Duquesne Duke team. Bob went on to serve in the Korean War as a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC), and became an expert marksman. He coached many baseball and softball teams and is a former president of the N.A. Cowboy Youth Football Program. “Moe” was an avid golfer and was fortunate to catch five Major League baseballs. Robert will be terribly missed by his family, as Heaven has received another gem. Services and interment private. Memorials donations to Animal Friends, www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org.
