
LUNZ FRANCIS C., Sr. Age 82, of Tionesta, PA, formerly of Troy Hill, Pgh., on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Golden Living Center, Titusville, PA. Born May 13, 1931, in Pgh., son of the late Bernard and Hilda (Stang) Lunz. On March 10, 1953, in Pgh., he married Anna M. (Geimer) Lunz. The couple just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Member of St. Anthony's R.C. Church and the Knights of Columbus of Tionesta. Served his country during the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army. Francis was a police officer and worked as a 1st grade Detective, Burglary Division, and in the Canine Unit, for the City of Pgh., retiring in 1989. During that time, from 1982 until 1989, he also owned a private investigation firm, Steel City Investigations. He also worked for Hughes & Hatcher Men's Store in Pgh. as a security guard. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1 of Pgh. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved his Beagles. Surviving are two sons, Gary F. Lunz of Pgh., Francis C. Lunz, Jr. and wife, Jean, of Butler, PA; three daughters, Mary Jo Hills and husband, Bruce of Pgh., Mary Ann Goode of Export, PA, Bernadette A. Stewart and husband, Eric, of Warrendale, PA; eight grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; brother, Edwin Lunz of Pgh.; three sisters, Rosalia Abel of Millvale, PA, Marian Lorenz of Pgh., Bernadette Kryl and her husband, Joseph, also of Pgh.; several nieces and nephews. In addition to parents, preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Lunz and two brothers in infancy; five sisters deceased, Gertrude Enz, Mercedes Bradley, Lorraine Rau, Dolores Enz, and Margaret Archey. Friends will first be received at the HUGHES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1501 Lowrie St., Pittsburgh, PA (Troy Hill) on Friday from 2-5 p.m. Friends will then be received at the NORMAN J. WIMER FUNERAL HOME of Tionesta, PA on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, at St. Anthony's R.C. Church at 10 a.m., with Father Joseph Kalinowski, Celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Tidioute, PA. Full military rights will be accorded.
