KUHLBER WARREN E. Age 89, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at ManorCare in North Hills. A longtime resident of Sewickley Heights Manor in Aleppo Township, he was born in Perrysville on November 15, 1924, the son of the late Gertrude and Wade Kuhlber. He graduated from West View High School in 1942. While attending Grove City College, he was called into service during World War II. Warren's greatest love was flying. He was commissioned an officer in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and flew B17 bombers over Germany during World War II. He later served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He loved to tell his story of service in World War II and was proud to be a veteran. Warren continued flying and retired from US Air as a Captain in 1984. Warren was a member of the NACO Caravan of the Syria Shriners and the Scottish Rite and enjoyed many years of traveling with the Syria RV group and singing with the Men's Chorus. He was also a member of the Soaring Eagles retired US Airways pilots group and a charter member of the Sewickley Senior Men's Club. He loved music and most people will remember him fondly, enlivening the room with piano, organ and song. Warren is survived by his "bride" of over 65 years, Verna Rea Skidmore Kuhlber; his children, Debbie Murphy and her husband, Tom, Brad Kuhlber and his wife, Sue, and Bruce Kuhlber and his wife, Cyndie; his sister, Carol Kuhlber Wright (Howard); and his sister-in-law, Betty Kuhlber; also his grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Murphy, Julie Angeloni and Kandace Kuhlber, Abbie Kuhlber Penland, Josie Kuhlber Romasco, and Sam Kuhlber; and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, David Kuhlber. At Warren's request, there will be no viewing or service.
