JACOBSMEYER RAYMOND GARY Age 85, died on April 25, 2014, at Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody. He was born October 9, 1928, in St. Louis, MO. A Memorial Service and interment will be held at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Jacobsmeyer graduated from Drury College in Springfield, MO and received his MBA from University of Pittsburgh. In sports, he progressed from football and track in college, to tennis as an adult and golf later in life. Raymond served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1951-53 and taught cartography at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Raymond was a geophysicist by education and in business management for his entire career with Gulf Oil living in Texas, Nigeria, and Pennsylvania. After retirement, he spent a few years consulting in Pittsburgh, PA. He retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with his wife in 1996. He was a lifelong learner who, with his wife, enjoyed taking educational courses in retirement. He was a lover of the arts his entire life, especially music. Ray sang in the choir of every Presbyterian Church where he belonged, and was a frequent attendee of the opera, symphony, and ballet in each city in which he lived. He was an active church member, in both religious studies and leadership roles. Raymond volunteered throughout his life with Meals-On-Wheels, Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity, and as a school tutor/substitute in Arkansas. Raymond was a lifelong supporter of environmental, animal, and social charities and had particular respect for the Southern Poverty Law Center. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Francisco Tizón of Atlanta, GA and Gwynne and Frank Carosella and Glenn, and their son, of Houston, TX; he is also survived by his brother, Robert Jacobsmeyer and his wife, Jeanne, of Springfield, MO; and his nephews, Ross and Brian of Denver and Los Angeles, respectively; and a niece, Lane Lockhart of Springfield. His wife of 55 years, Harriett Ann (Grigg) Jacobsmeyer, passed away in 2007. Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
