DANVER WILLIAM MILTON “MILT”, Jr. A life well lived ended peacefully, with his son at his side, on May 6, 2014. Milt was born on September 10, 1933, to Ida and William “Newt” Danver of the North Side. A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, Milt married his teen sweetheart from Oliver High School, where they starred in the senior class play “The Whole Town Is Talking”. He studied chemical engineering at Carnegie Tech, where he was an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and called Bingo at the local Moose Club with his best friend, Bob. After graduation, Milt went on to hold a variety of positions in the local steel industry, retiring from Crucible Steel Research in 1991. During retirement, he continued to play tennis, racquetball, and tend his vegetable garden. He traveled extensively with his family and developed a fondness for gourmet cooking. Milt also took up cycling and spent many weekends with Drew and childhood friend, Bob, riding on the local Rails-to-Trails network. Milt is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; son, Drew (Arlene); granddaughter (and apple of his eye), Melanie; sister, Ruth Matthews; nephew, George (Marie) Matthews; niece, Janet (Lee) Corsello; and friend for life, Bob Stefanko. Friends invited to a casual remembrance at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Montour Trail Council, 304 Hickman St., Suite 3, Bridgeville, PA 15017. www.slaterfuneral.com Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
