WILEY S. DONALD Age 86, of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly of Fox Chapel, passed away August 7, 2013. Don was born December 4, 1926 in Pittsburgh and grew up in Wilkinsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Katherine; his brother, Jack; and his wife, Josie. He is survived by his three sons, Sam (Mary) of Middletown, RI, Kevin (Kathy) of Fox Chapel, Michael (Shirley) of Fox Chapel; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Caitlin, Jason, Sam, Henry, and Frank; his foster grandchild, Amanda; and four nephews and a niece. He is also survived by several cousins in the United States and Ireland. He was a graduate of Westminster College, where he met his wife of 61 years, Josephine Josie Hartman Wiley, who passed away earlier this year. He served in the Army Air Corps and after graduating from Westminster, he attended law school at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an assistant District Attorney in Allegheny County before he went to work for the H. J. Heinz Company in 1956 as an in house attorney. He retired from Heinz in 1990 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, and continued to serve as an outside director on the Heinz board until 2000. He served on the board of the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation and became Vice Chairman upon his retirement from the company. He also remained active with the Allegheny County Bar Association after his retirement. He served on boards of many educational and charitable organizations including the Vira I. Heinz Endowment, Heinz Family Foundation, Carnegie Mellon University, Shadyside Hospital Foundation, QED Communications and was Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Westminster College. Don was also a founding member of the Fox Chapel Raquet Club and a member of the Fox Chapel Golf Club, Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier and the Duquesne Club. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren at their vacation residences in Vero Beach, FL and Chatham, MA. He was an avid tennis player and golfer and enjoyed fishing trips with his three sons. Friends will be received Saturday 4-8 p.m. at WEDDELL - AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Ave., Aspinwall. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Christ Church Fox Chapel, 830 Squaw Run Road East. In lieu of flowers, donations to Westminster College or to the American Ireland Fund.
