SZABO JOSEPH "JOSKA and JOE" Age 85, of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 from ALS. Born January 5,1928 in Tamasi, Hungary, he earned his law degree in Budapest. In 1956, he fled to Austria during political reform in Hungary, and then immigrated to the US in 1959, to Cleveland Ohio. After moving to Pittsburgh, he was later employed by Yellow Cab Co. for many years, and was an active member of the Hungarian Social Club. He loved to dance when he was able and had an amazing passion for life. Joe enjoyed exploring the city and conversing with friends and everyone. He also enjoyed photography, politics and education, but he most loved freedom and his independence, telling historical and educational stories, and his grandchildren. He was well liked by many for his kindness and wisdom. Preceded in death by his parents Jozsef and Maria (Palfi) Szabo; and wife Maria (Vavra) Szabo. Survived by children, Joseph A. Szabo of Pittsburgh and Maria (John) Betten of Allen, Texas and grandchildren, Kaylan, Daniel and Marcus. Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
