RYAN VERA R. On Sunday, September 1, 2013, of Baldwin Boro. Just shy of her 88th birthday, passed peacefully at home with her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Harold E. "Howdy" Ryan, at her side. Survived by her five children, Timothy P. of Woodbridge, VA, Richard of Baldwin, Kimberly (Derek) Hobbs of Surrancy, GA, Nancy (Fred) Busch of Jeannette, PA, Thomas (Beth) of Baldwin; sister, Grace Geddis; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Vera "Rachael" was born the youngest of seven children to Katherine and Irwin Hubbard on Pittsburgh's North Side. Following WWII, she married Harold and raised their children as residents of Baldwin for 60 years. They enjoyed many years of square dancing, teaching and demonstrating their artistry. She was an active member of Stewart Ave. Lutheran Church and the coordinator of the South Hills Meals-On-Wheels (Brentwood) for 38 years. Vera and Harold continued to volunteer throughout their retirement, extending their kindness and concern to others. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood, 15227, Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to local Meals-On-Wheels programs to allow the program Vera was passionate about to continue.
