
MLAKAR HOWARD VALENTINE Age 88, of McCandless Township, on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Born Valentine's day, 1925, Claridge, PA. He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Josephine Fidei; brothers, Albert (WWII), Frank, Roy, John, and Lawrence. Surviving are brother, Martin (Nancy); sister-in-law, Angie; brother-in-law, Jim (Barb) Fidei; and children, Howard (Marilyn), McCandless, Ed (Angie), Carlsbad, CA, Gary, Knoxville, TN, and Marlene (Dan Milliron) of Marshall; grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Jennifer, Alan, Neil, Genesis, Josephine, Marissa, and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Emerson, Kendall; nieces and nephews. A WWII veteran, Howard served on the U.S.S. Stephen Potter, participating in over 23 active raids, including Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was an accountant at Blum Company, maintenance manager at Northway Mall. He attended CCAC (IT Certificates) and was also an employee in CCAC IT department. During retirement, he selflessly enjoyed and embraced children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. A role model and family man in all respects, he engaged in numerous family activities.
